Fostering Cultural Understanding

East Gates has had the privilege to serve and work with the House Churches, Open Churches, religious and governmental entities throughout China over the past 20 years. This has required great Godly wisdom and patience, as well as a deep understanding for the Chinese culture. Our relationship with China centers on the ministry of reconciliation, not condemnation (II Cor.5:19). It is based on the mutual appreciation and fact we are all created in God’s image and our eternal destines are intertwined for the benefit of all. As the book, The Genius of China: 3000 Years of Science, Discovery and Invention by Robert Temple, reveals, the modern world would not exist without the gifts and talents gleaned from both East and West. At East Gates, we believe that God created diversity to become a viable and harmonious unity. His Spirit directs our use of time, energy and resources to help build the true harmony and stability the Chinese have desired for millennia. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Lifelong relationships begin with one simple act of empathy and undeserved kindness.
