Miss You Dad

On February 21, 2018, my dad passed away at his home in Montreat, North Carolina.  He was released from this earthly realm and entered where he always wanted to be -- his forever home.  We can only imagine how he was gloriously greeted by His Savior, Jesus the Messiah, whom he so faithfully served for 99 full years.  I know he heard, “Well done good and faithful servant…enter into the joy of your Master” (Matthew 25:21).  Perhaps dad is now seated at the wedding banquet with mom, surrounded by a heavenly host, waiting for all of us to join them!

Greetings, Teacher Kuo and Teacher Graham,

I was shocked to hear that Dr. Graham had finished his labors on this earth and is now with the Lord in Heaven to enjoy his portions/blessings. He was like a grain of wheat that many seeds had come from it after it was buried in the ground. His faith carries on and is still a blessing to many. The light of the righteous become brighter and brighter. Yet the brighter the light, the sadder our hearts are. Let’s not grieve anymore because of the resurrection of Jesus, someday we will all meet again, and will rejoice in praising the Lord. May the merciful Lord lead your hand during this very difficult time. If there is anything we can do for you, please let us know. Lifting you up to the Lord. Jesus. His love will always be with you.

    Love in Christ,
    Brother Zhao and family

Dear Tina, Ned, Alex & Sam,

Sorry to hear the sad news of Dr. Billy Graham. Great to know He is with our heavenly Father. We know we will meet with Him in heaven with joy.
“Then I hard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on’” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.” Revelation 14:13

    Dear Ned and Tina

On February 21st, we were in Inner Mongolia when we heard about the sad news about Rev. Billy Graham. A missionary had sent us a message that the Rev. Billy Graham was now resting in the Lord’s arms. We immediately sent a WeChat message to Brother Xiong (East Gates co-worker) and asked if Rev. Billy Graham was truly resting in the Lord’s arms? Brother Xiong said, “yes.” Suddenly, my heart felt anxious and sad.

Billy Graham gave us many, many blessings, especially the blessing of Truth. I remembered when he visited Guangzhou Dama Zhan in the 1980s. He shared at Samuel Lamb’s church. The theme scripture he preached from was — “And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest on me. Therefore, I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (II Corinthians 12:9-10)

Billy Graham encouraged us to trust in God with joy. We should not be afraid to trust God and to know that God is with us even when we are scared. Just a brief message from Billy Graham has always encouraged me to direct my steps carefully, even to the present.

We’re so grateful for all that Billy Graham has shared with us over the years since his messages have always encouraged masses of people and given them support as well. My mother had a plate of cassette tapes from Billy Graham’s Crusade in Hong Kong. It was given to her as a gift by Hong Kong brothers and sisters. She loved them very much. On Sundays, she would play the cassette tapes for the brothers and sisters and everyone would listen quietly and say, “Amen” in a low voice.

In time, my mother and a Christian brother transcribed the cassette tape messages which were in Cantonese. They listened to the messages very carefully and wrote down each word without changing the content. After proofreading it carefully, they distributed the transcripts out to the believers. Many of them were encouraged…

Although Billy Graham has returned to his Eternal Home, we have the same goal. Someday we will be meeting together in the Glory of the Lord!

    Dear Tina, Ned, and family,

I am very sorry to hear of your loss — a loss the whole world feels. But to grieve a father, a father-in-law, a grandfather, beloved to all of you, is quite different than grieving the loss of an icon and great man. May Immanuel be a tangible presence to you all.

    Shalom,
